Meet the Insurrection Caucus


State Senator Amanda Chase
- State Senator Amanda Chase spoke in D.C. on January 6th, focusing her time on false and racist rhetoric about COVID-19 and using that platform to advertise her gubernatorial campaign. [Source: twitter]
- Prior to being deplatformed, Chase called the rioters “patriots”, leading to a revocation of her committee assignment. [Source: Chesterfield Observer, 1/7/21]
- Amanda Chase surrounds herself with dangerous conspiracy theorists. Her bodyguard, Joshua Macias, was arrested when he drove to a Philadelphia ballot processing center with numerous weapons. He was also present at the U.S. Capitol insurrection, giving a speech to encourage the riot. - Chase attempted to shift responsibility for the D.C. violence to antifa, despite reports from the FBI stating otherwise. [Source: Politifact]

Delegate Dave LaRock
- Delegate Dave LaRock proudly attended the events on January 6th in Washington D.C. [Source: Fox5DC, 1/13/21]
- LaRock is a self-described friend of an alleged Oathkeeper who was arrested and charged with major crimes related to the insurrection. Of Oathkeeper Thomas Caldwell, David LaRock said “Tom is a wonderful man. He (has) been very supportive of me. Tom has served our country in a long and distinguished career in the U.S. military. - LaRock spent the days and weeks leading up to the insurrection using his position to spread false information about our election, conspiracy theories, and called for the joint session of congress to not certify the election results. [Source: ABC13, 1/5/21]
- Calls for Delegate LaRock to resign for his participation in the insurrection are intensified by his recent use of the phrase “colored community” on a blog. [Source: WDVM, 1/14/21]
- Delegate LaRock does not deserve the honor of representing his district.


Representative Rob Wittman (VA-01)
- Representative Wittman was one of several Republicans in Congress who supported efforts to block certification of the 2020 election results. [Source: WUSA9, 1/6/21]
- Despite his clear efforts to sow unrest, Wittman hasn’t taken responsibility for his part in the D.C. insurrection.
- Wittman minimized the motivations behind the insurrection, attributing it to feelings of “passion[]” and “disenfranchise[ement]”. [Source: Daily Press, 1/8/21]
- Representative Wittman called the horrific attack on our Capitol a mere “blemish” and acknowledged that he knew his actions would not change the outcome of the election. Wittman acted with callous disregard for the safety of our nation and fueled the flames of insurrection with his rhetoric and conspiracy spreading. [Source: Twitter, 1/7/21]


Representative Bob Good (VA-05)
- On December 1st, Representative Good tweeted: “If we don’t fight to restore election integrity today, we may never win another national election. Please join me in standing with President Trump as he mounts legal challenges to this election!” [Source: Twitter, 12/1/20]
- Good never backed down from this rhetoric, despite definitive proof that there was no wrong-doing in the 2020 election. This conspiracy-spreading helped cause the insurrection and violence on our Capitol.
- Good joined several other Republicans in Congress to object to the certification of the election results. [Source: ABC13, 1/5/21]
- Representative Bob Good’s district director was present at the rally outside the Capitol before the insurrection. [Source: Faquier Times, 1/29/21]


Representative Ben Cline (VA-06)
- Representative Ben Cline joined Republicans to block the certification of the electors. [Source: News Leader, 1/7/21]
- Cline stated on the House floor that in regards to impeachment, the threshold for an incitement of violence was not met. [Source: News Leader, 1/13/21]
- Cline tried to overturn the results of the election; his actions helped encourage the actions of the insurrectionists.” [Source: Virginia Mercury, 1/8/21]
- Representative Ben Cline is an embarrassment to the 6th District of Virginia. He does not represent our values and he does not respect our democracy.


Representative Morgan Griffith (VA-09)
- When the attackers were finally removed from the Capitol building and voting resumed on the House floor, Representative Griffith remained resolute in his objection to the certification process. Even a violent insurrection was not enough for him to back down from his campaign to dismantle our democracy. [Source: WVTF, 1/7/21]
- Shortly before the violent attacks, Representative Morgan Griffith joined with other lawmakers to release a statement of continued objection to the election results: “Our oath, nonetheless, is to ‘support and defend the Constitution of the United States,’ and to ‘bear true faith and allegiance to the same. Taking this action today will not undermine our beleaguered institutions, as some critics charge, but rather reinforce and defend them.
